David Nabarro

World Food Prize Laureate and Facilitator of Sustainable Development


Dr. Nabarro has over 40 years of experience in international public health as a community-based practitioner, educator, public servant, director and diplomat.

In the past 12 years, successive Secretaries-General of the United Nations have entrusted David to lead collective action on some of the most pressing and complex challenges – responding to avian and pandemic influenza, promoting food security, ending malnutrition, combating Ebola, promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and advancing efforts relating to climate change.

Since 2018 he curates and moderates the Food Systems Dialogues (FSDs), a joint initiative led by the EAT Foundation, the World Business Council on Sustainable Development, the Food and Land Use Coalition and the World Economic Forum.

Dr. Nabarro is the 2018 World Food Prize Laureate awarded together with Dr. Lawrence Haddad, for their individual and complementary global leadership in elevating maternal and child undernutrition to a central issue within the food security and development dialogue at national and international levels.
